Here’s the truth of the matter:
There is one God. He is the Father. He is the Son, Jesus Christ. He is the Holy Spirit: He is Sovereign. He is the Creator. He is Holy. He is Righteous. He is Just. He is all these things; and more. He has revealed Himself through the Bible; His perfect word.
Men and women were created by God to enjoy Him. Man sinned against God, breaking His divine law. They have proven themselves to be lovers of pride and not of God. Because of this, all men and women are cursed. They have sinned against the infinitely worthy, and holy God. They are wicked and evil. They are at odds against God; they hate God. God, being righteous in all He does, is at odds against men. He hates sin. He hates all doers of iniquity. All men deserve the just wrath of Almighty God, where torment will be experienced for all of eternity.
But God, out of love for Himself, and for the sinner, provided perfect salvific mercy and grace to those He has chosen. Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, was born of a virgin; being under the curse of sin, yet living a perfect, sinless life. He came to earth as a humble servant. He presented Himself as the Christ to great multitudes during His life. Men hated His message and sentenced Him to die an undeserving death of a “convicted” man. He was beaten. He was bruised. He was nailed and hung on a tree, and left for dead. Men mocked Jesus, on that tree, and thought they had killed “but another man.”
But, what man meant for evil, God meant for good. On that tree, Christ became a curse. The Father crushed Jesus, under His just wrath, for Jesus became sin. He took upon himself the sin of wicked men. The Father turned his back on His Son, because in His holiness, he will not fellowship with sin. Christ cried out to the Father, but the Father would not listen. Jesus gave up His life, and was buried in a tomb. Three days later, Jesus proved himself to be God. He rose from the grave. He conquered sin. He conquered his enemies. He conquered death. After forty days, He ascended to Heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of the Father.
Through His death and resurrection, He provided perfect atonement for sinners. He gave up His life, as a ransom for many. He bought back what is rightfully His. Men no longer have to experience the wrath of God for eternity. Men can walk away freely justified because of Christ’s blood that was shed on their behalf. Men can now experience fellowship with God, and enjoy Him for all of eternity. Sadly, many men are still in love with their sin and hate God. Many will still die and experience the wrath of God for all of eternity. Fortunately, Gods grace is sufficient for those who do believe. The believing ones do not have to do anything to aid in salvation. God removes the wicked heart of stone and gives a heart of flesh that can now truly know reality. They see God for who He is: Glorious! Worthy! Beautiful! Savior! King! Even though these men still sin, for the world is still sinful, their desire now is to turn away from their sin, and turn toward God in every aspect of life. They want to proclaim on the top of mountain tops “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!” When death finally takes these men and women, they will fully be able to worship God in perfect humility for all of eternity. This is the joy of their souls; a never ending joy!
